How do i make professional photo greeting cards to sell?
i want to make my own greeting cards but i am really confused as to what to do. my thoughts are below, but what is the correct procedure? feel free to give all your ideas, experience, referrals, links, etc.
I want to learn how to take pictures of flowers, nature, etc. but i don’t know what camera is the best. i assume some sort of digital camera should be used. i wonder if i should buy card stock/or paper used to make greeting cards to print on or should i take them/digital photos to the local print shop/Kinko’s/staples to print. what is the best type of printer/ink…laser? or should i just skip it and use the print shop. should I copy right my pictures? should i get some sort of bar code for the back of each card? i suppose i should make a business name.
I don’t want a big time organization to compete with the big guys. I just want a cost effective way to make extra money from home.

Brenton Parker answers:
I suggest you have the shopping cart before the lens. . . .
Learn to take fabulous photos first. Exhibit them in shows, fairs, exhibitions and competitions. Get a name for yourself as a photographer. Sell a few photos now and then and find a gallery that will hang your photos.
Then you might . . . MIGHT. . . . Make some money off of greeting cards. And at that time you hire a good printer to make them on the correct card stock, supplying the correct envelopes and then you distribute them to gift stores, restaurants and other places that sell custom cards.
But learn to do outstanding photography first. No one is buying mediocre art or photography, even at $4.50 a pop, these days.

If at this point you do not understand photography, lighting and the macro photography required, you are light years away from needing a business name. Get a camera and begin practicing first.

Thomas asks…
what all is involved to make a small home ran business legal?
what all is involved to make a small home ran business legal?
i know i need to go to my local office to get a DBA paper. but what other than that?
Someone told me that I can choose if i get a tax exempt paper that will let me get my supplies tax free. they said if i do then i can charge my customers tax and if i dont i cant charge tax. but if i do then i would have to pay taxes every 3 months and if i dont get it i wouldnt have to pay taxes. is that true?
I thought that no matter what if you make extra money from side jobs that it allhas to be claimed on taxes.
im just making diaper cakes and want to have it all legal so i dont get someone comming after me for using their name or anything like that. i wouldnt be making much money at all well for now any way
diaper cakes are made from diapers not food.

Brenton Parker answers:
You don’t necessarily need a DBA unless your business is operating under some name other than just your name. Depending on where you are and what your business is, various licenses might be needed. The cakes sound cute. For food items you make and sell, you need to contact your local health department for requirements, there are many.
As usual when “someone” gives you tax advice, they are confused and are confusing sales tax and income tax. You can’t get your supplies tax-free. If you are buying items for resale, you can get a reseller’s certificate from your state so you don’t have to pay sales tax when you buy the things you’re going to resell. If you are selling anything that’s taxed (sales tax) by your state you have to charge sales tax on them. You need a license from your state to do that, and they’ll tell you when to send it in.
Income tax is different from sales tax, and you pay it based on your net income, if you made over $400 for the year or if you file or are required to file an income tax return for the year, including a joint return. That info is calculated at the end of the year. You pay both income tax, and also self employment tax for social security and medicare. If you’re going to owe more than $1000 total for the two, you will make quarterly estimated payments through the year.

Ruth asks…
Has anyone ever tried one of those “work from home” deals?
I am not looking to make thousands of dollars. Just something to help out with bills and extra spending money. Are there any legitimate ones out there? I can’t really pay anything to start a business. So it has to be something I can do for free or very little money. If you have tried and succeeded with any work from home job, please let me know. If you have tried one and it was a waste of time tell me about that too. Thank you everyone!

Brenton Parker answers:
Before following on any referrals and investing time and especially money on any home-based business offers, it’s a good idea to become educated on the different types of schemes there are out there, and what to look for – and look out for – before picking a home-based business. The Federal Trade Commission offers several advisories about home-based business opportunities and network marketing (MLM) schemes.
“Work at home Schemes” http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/invest/homewrk.htm
‘Net Based Business Opportunities: Are Some Flop-portunities?
“The Bottom Line on Multilevel Marketing Plans” http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/alerts/pyrdalrt.htm
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a consumer alert entitled “Take This Scheme and Stuff It: Avoiding Envelope-Stuffing Rip-Offs.” The alert, which can be found on the Commission’s Web site at provides tips for consumers who are interested in working at home, but wary of potential scams.

Mark asks…
What would I need to do to start up a small baking business from home? (UK)?
I’ve been trying to think of ways to earn a bit of extra money from home around my degree. Today I realised that I spend a lot of my free time baking and I’ve been told I have a flair for it, and it occured to me that I could make some money out of it. Would it be possible to set up my own little bakery from home? I thought of specialising in sweet products since they are my strong point, and making products on request when people order them. My reasoning is that when people are buying cakes/biscuits/etc for special occasions they often end up spending way too much because they went to a large company which charges too much. With my business people could come to me with their ideas for a special occasion cake, for example, and I could work on something totally original for them that wouldn’t cost them hundreds of pounds. What I’d like to know is, would I need any sort of special qualifications to do this sort of work? I don’t know if I need to be registered or anything like that. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Brenton Parker answers:
Well i’m only 17 so i can’t answer this however, the site below has loads of recipe EBooks that you can buy at low prices. My friends mum who owns a bakery now has used this site. She bought about 20 of their eBooks and she’s stil using them today. So check it out it could do you some good and possibly make you more money.
Hope this helped. Good Luck

Brenton Parker answers:
A! Ya wanna build CD Modulators at home?
Seriously though, there is NO work-at-home job!
The ONLY way is to invent the business yourself and run it yourself and take all of the risk involved in running your own business.
Do NOT give out any personal info about yourself to total strangers over the web!
And do NOT pay anybody anything for any “opportunity”!
This sort of question is a spam magnet!
Be careful!

I am looking for legit ways to make money from home that does not cost any start-up money.?

Brenton Parker answers:
Your not going to make a decent amount of money working a job from home. Most home jobs only pay minimum wage. Your better off starting your own home based business. Most home based business cost under $500 to start. Depending on what you like to do.
I don’t know what you like to do, so I can only tell you what my husband and I started over six years ago. It well supports our family as well as a major funding source for our non-profit organization that we started up a while back with part of the income we earned. As well as it’s a funding source for other non-profit organizations.
Anyhow, we got involved in the telecommunications industry.
With a world wide company that’s over 15 years old. We’ve been featured in several magazines like USA Today, Success, Fortune etc. Inc 500 rated us the 22nd fastest growing company. They offer services that people use every day and pay for anyway, but now they can have a lower cost. Services such as local and long distance phones, Internet, digital phones, video phones (you can see the person your taking to live)VOIP, Satallite tv, and all the major cellular phone companies like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Alltell, Nextell etc. Have partnered up with them too.
How many people do you know, or know of, that uses or has one or more of these services? How would you feel if you could save people money on services that they’re already using and everytime they pay their bills each month, you make a percentage off these bills every single month. Huge income opportunity. It’s incredible how much money is involved in this industry.
If you’d like more information feel free to email me and I’ll be happy to pass it along to you.
I also created a blog on my 360 page on home based business’s. There’s over half a dozen different ones to take a look at. Your more then welcome to browse through them. If you find one that’s interesting, contact the person who wrote it and they can point you out in the right direction.

I am about 5 months pregnant and I need to make some extra money from home. Does anybody have any ideas? ?
I was the Branch Manager of a payday loan company, but Ohio passed a law that put the company out of business. I am now out of work and pregnant. Nobody wants to hire a pregnant woman, so now I need to make some extra money from home. I also have a 2 year old. I don’t want to do those “surveys” or “get rich quick home businesses”. I want legitimate ideas of what I could do from home. Thanks.

Where’s the husband/father? Your company going out of business doesn’t negate your skills and/or abilities to work from home. Have you tried Craigslist, monster.com or NY TIMES.com with “telecommute” selected? Or will the tax-paying public be supporting TWO of your illlegitimate children?

Your Questions About Make Money Quick From Home

Sandy asks…
Does anyone REALLY make money from home?
I have been a small business owner for 8 years. Through the recent turn of our countries financial situation, I no longer am and cannot imagine working for someone again..
I tried finding some people that had home businesses online but obviously google searches are filled with get rich quick garbage.
Please share your experiences.
Please don’t litter this with affiliate marketing or online million $ ideas.
I need to bring in about 3k per month.

Brenton Parker answers:
From reading your question, I think you would excel in marketing directly to human beings in the real world. You appear to a good energy level and an understanding of the importance of action to accomplish a goal. I would look for products to market targeted groups such as outside of large office buildings. The flaw in the thinking of the online marketing crowd is that they largely see a free lunch and are not coming to the job with a strong work ethic. Just the way you describe your circumstance as being the general economy and not “I am a victim” says a great deal about you as person. I would search for products of which you are knowledgeable and market those in person. I just do not like buying from a website or even from a tv infomercial. Now, if you are marketing financial products, including, insurance, you may be able to accomplish that via online. Just offer the customer that you are in compliance with state regulations to sell the product. Another approach, would be sell specialty baked goods to select restaurants in your market area.

Ruth asks…

Make money from home without spam or paying?
I am looking at spending about 40 minutes a day doing something online that I do not have to pay to sign up for or pay to start offers then cancel them. I have heard dropshipping is not worth it. I am not looking for a get rich quick as i know they are just scams. Just looking for some extra cash. If anyone knows how to be profitable dropshiping or any other ideas let me know
Thank you

Brenton Parker answers:
Hello friend!
I don’t know exactly how much you are expecting to earn but toolbars and ads are not the best options.I will tell you why, lets do some math first..
I got a toolbar stuff sometime ago.
* they will pay you as,1000 points = 0.01.$
* so $1 = 100000 points
* the minimum payout is $30
* $30 = 3000000 points
if you surf for an evarage of 4 hours you might earn 2000 points.
So it will take 1500 days = 30$
That means more than 3 years just to make $30. You don’t trust me, that dosen’t even bother me the least. You will find what they are all about in few months time.Surveys are not the best option either. Surveys are targeted stuff. You will get one in two weeks and even get kicked out of it if you don’t satisfy their requirements.
You can always make some good money working on the net. But the most important factor is that you find a source that really helps you. It’s totally worthless trying anything anywhere. Cause you need to pay them. And according to me 87% of on line moneymaking schemes are fraud.
Why do I need to pay when there are so many free offers around?
Cause: Free Turns Out To Be Fraud.
That’s what I have learned in 5 years of my work on online marketing and money generation. ASK ME WHY?
Cause no fool will ever let you know the real secrets without cutting a profit for him. When you come across free money making sites they are DAMN SLOW. You never make enough.Take it for granted I have tried more than a dozen of them, with a lot of hope and dreams. You just let someone spam your email with ads and surveys.Install toolbars, get your screen hijecked. Do referral with the hope that someday you will see profit and what do you come across? NOTHING ‘WORTH’. WORTH your time and effort that you put on this methods.Although free sounds fascinating reality is bitter. I am not any master but I know what I am talking about.
I am right now working with such a site that I needed to pay to sign up.Its true that I don’t earn as much they show on their site but atleast their methods are not fake. It makes money, I made $149 in my first month with my worst effort.I am still learning. I know I will make higher.Truth is this sites are not money making packages they are just a THROUGH. They can tell you how to but can’t make you any.You will have to swim yourself. But your work dose pays out.
They will charge you an initial fees because they will provide you with MATERIAL, MEANS AND METHODS of making some decent money to “SATISFACTION”.They will assist you in every manner. They will provide you online support to your queries- which you never get in the free ones. This cost them maintenance. What you pay is simply nothing in comparison to what you will get in return.
I hope your doubt is cleared.
I would suggest you to give it a try. What you pay is Completely Refundable–NOTHING TO LOSE.
Just check out and ask yourself, did you know this before! It’s real independence.
I hope It will work for you cause it works for me.I Hope you succeed.
Click on my avatar and go to my profile where you will find a link as ‘make money online’ in the “about me” section. It will guide you to your required page.

I have two toddler boys, 2 1/2 & 4 years old. I work full time. How can I make extra money from home?
I want & also need to have a little extra income. I work 40 hours a week outside of the home & would like to find something that I can do from home that will bring in more money without having to take a lot of time away from my boys.

Brenton Parker answers:
To help you out, I will share ways that I make money in my free time usually I spend about 12 hours a week doing the following and if you have any questions about my suggestions, feel free to email me through “yahoo answers”
(1) I also re-sell stuff on the Internet, basically I started out selling extra items that I had around the house, now I go to yard sales, discount bins at my local stores and resell them on the net. I use different “auction houses”, One I use to sell small items and I use a local auction site to sell the bigger items
(2) I have a blog and a website that makes me money,
(3) I also make a little extra money by reading emails, I spend about 1/2 to an hour a night doing this, I got lucky a few weeks ago while doing research and came across a website that had all the free info that I needed about making extra money at home like “reading emails”. I will post the link that I used below.

Ways to make extra money from home?
I’m a freelance graphic designer, working from home – so I know you can do well financially. See, the thing is, the income isn’t always steady and frankly I’d like a little bit of a break from design work. Are there any other legit ways to make some extra cash on the side from home?
To “common sense” – I already have an online job, which I clearly stated, so not only are you wrong, but you also did not take the time to read the details of my question before making such an ignorant statement.

Brenton Parker answers:
You can start a home business or internet business. Maybe start a website based on your passion-design, teaching others tips and tutorials and have multiple streams from it. You can start an online business based on any of your passion and hobbies and then one you get traffic monetize it.
You can also freelance other services other than design-maybe writing if you have a passion.

Any ideas on how to make extra money from home?
I’m a stay-at-home Mom, expecting my second baby shortly. I won’t have a lot of time to invest & I wouldn’t want anything that would require a specific number of hours per day. Don’t want to invest my money either. Any ideas?
